definitly disturbing. got an idea. the obvios solution would be to get rid of all the humans. the people who made this video are human. they can start with themselves. I really don't like these three legged tree people or whoever they are.
Our job is to make it a better place. It's just that a lot of people don't care. And so the first step is for people to care about it. And the next step is for people to better themselves b/c they care.
Really, the only thing we can do is work on ourselves and be a good example for others.
Here's an example, why do you think we should give to charity? To help people. Why should we Not gossip badly? so we don't hurt others.
our purpose is to make this world better. Obliviously we can't all change the world. But we could each indevidually work on ourselves if we choose to. And make a small impact.
sounds like hippy talk to me. but i guess you're right in a way. (although i'm sure there are certain people in this large world you don't like [without valid reason i.e them not being mass murdering rapists]. how do you explain you not helping them?
all our little efforts get us where exactly? i see no golden orb we're getting closer to, it's not like we can track our actions on a giant good samaritan map.
so what's the 'small impact' impacting?
ok, homeless dude can buy cuppa joe, little old lady won't break an arm holding open the door and some frazzled mom can get some sleep while u watch her screaming newborn twins..but where does that leave you? they say in a bette rplace. but i dont buy that anymore. bec. i'm not in any better of a place than i was five years ago. so my 'pebbles in the water' aren't generating any ripples that'll make it to the ocean in the shape of a wave one day.
so my efforts are too exhausting to keep up anymore with no progress to show for it. what's the point then? dropping it all sounds pretty good, b/c there's no other alternative..right?
you're right, there are some people I don't care about. how do I explain not helping them? well, there are plenty of others that can. don't know if they will or not though. but we can't help everyone, just some.
smb, according to your logic, what you're saying is hypocracy (whoa, sorry for the harsh word) if our purposeis to do good and be good, then we've got to be nice to EVERYONE; it's easy to be good to a person we like. the hard part is being nice to the s.o.b. mother fucker that grates on your nerves like a horseradish.
s.j., flor, i cant tell if you guys are being serious or not.. but if you are..
flor - thats a seriously self centered way of looking at life. you havent gotten some big magic reward for being "good" over the past few years so now youre dropping the act..doesnt sounds like it was real altruism to begin with..how about being good cuz theres no reason for someone to suffer if youre capable of stopping it? if everyone thinks like you, its no wonder we live in such a crummy world. better the homeless guy should freeze than you should feel obligated to get him his cup of coffee.. cuz in the end 'what are you gonna get out of it?' and s.j. what flawed logic - the choice is to help everyone OR no one? what a cop out. how about doing your best and helping all thsoe you manage to help. if half the people do their best, some poeple might not suffer, if no one puts any effort, everyone will suffer.. id rather option n.1
i think you misunderstood me (or perhaps the wors came out weird).
everyone helps people they like. that's animal instinct. but helping s/o that you hate? that's s/t difficult for most people. if the purpose on this world is to give out little flowers and cups of lemonade to everyone, then you should be nice to your enemy before your friend. (that being said, it seems there aren't alot of people doing their job)
sj, Good point. And I agree with you that we should help both who we like and don't like. (so long as they're okay and not criminals) :) And that it takes more effort.
m00k- its not what i get, it's where i'll be tomorrow. why i'm not on a higher plane than i was earlier (and it's been 20+ yrs). i actually do help ppl i hate in order to overcome the blockage and stupidity i see all around me (i shared my crackers last night w/ someone i absolutely loath-- happy?). figure if i do way more than my share somoene else can take a hint and pass it on..if somone's suffering, i'd be cruel to walk on. heck, i'd give the homeless kid my friggin coat along with the coffee. am i expecting fireworks and an inaugural dinner? no. but spritually/emotionally/physically you'd think it'd affect you in some small way (or is that asking too much?). when nothing works you look around and wonder what you're doing wrong. you're right, maybe i am self-centered.

yup..we really are making a mess of things..
but sj, why do you need to justify not being green?
just making sure i don't start getting 'hug a tree' and pita bumperstickers.
quick-- litter!
Great it didn't show up! I will use my wonderful imagination.

Well, it's not a cartoon I want my veggies to watch on sunday mornings!
it didnt work 4 me either, I'l just copy sw and close my eyes and make it up. Imagination is always better then the real thing.
doodl so happy I am not the only one missing out. Hey I bet everyone is making it up. We will have our own little images.

why is it called on hold music?
until i pull an original s.j. out of me ol' noggin.
disturbingly truer each day (now that i actually saw it thanks to a persistent someone..).
why're we here cluttering up a poor innocent planet?
beats me.
probably cause god put us here. don't worry, if elephants had the ability to advance they would probably be worse than us. we know malachim were.
ee, so there is no reason we're here [triumphant smile]
spiritually too; we're just getting morally-blacker by the minute.
why does no one try/care anymore??
get out while you can
*s
i don't know why god decided to put us here, but i intend to make a helluva time out of it.
of that i've no doubt.
(bottle and sell your enthusiasm..?)
maybe one day

smb- been down that path.
no workee.
now what?
flor-i'm not sure if smb is right; but if she is, it may take more than just a lifetime to accomplish.
and in that case brings us back to the beginning..
what's our purpose then?
*down here

i dunno.
utopia is impossible.
but...
i just don't know.
We shouldn't try for perfection. Just making an effort is good enough. For example, helping someone in some way.

flor, you may think your efforts don't do anything, but they really do. you just don't see it.
so they tell me.
