on a trip

-while i'm in the poppy garden
i can simply sit and gaze
at the flowers
oh for hours
drifting through the pretty haze
- falling in and out of focus
like a voodoo
hocus pocus
with the plants all begging
'smoke us!'
as my eyeballs start to glaze
- and while the colors blend together
i feel lighter than a feather
then there's sudden change in weather
lightly falling neon rain
- and when each raindrop touches ground
i can faintly hear the sound
of my vision laughing merry
as it's spinning round and round
-in the backround there is singing
gently adding to the fun
though it rains
the sky is clear
and there shines

PSYCHEDELIC SUN

composed on account others' experiances

I like it, so positive and merrily sounding. I won't tell you to post like this more often. You had to say it was others' experiences?

s.J. said...

rumor has it, you can only get it en route to crown heights...

Scraps said...

Where can I get some? As long as I don't have to drive afterwards...

s.J. said...

if i knew where it was, it wouldn't be a rumor now would it?

;iulu said...

its near um
near..well you have to get lost.,run out of gas, nearly slap someone..then it shows up; this apparition on a dusty road..

s.J. said...

though i've also heard it's only there, if you're not looking for it.

;iulu said...

mmm. yes. yes.. indeed. it bonks you on the head
disorienting but very grounding.
i recommend it highly

s.J. said...

i was talking about the station.

;iulu said...

i think i lost you somewhere..

s.J. said...

the gas station 'bonks you on the head' ?

;iulu said...

oooh. heh.
i thought you meant the [ill-fated] train station

s.J. said...

;iulu said...

beginning of day>metrocard swipe in train station>sees time/loses mind> #%@&!*> runs to get a taxi..

s.J. said...

;iulu said...

you're right.

(i have the Vonage ad tag line/music.."People do stupid things..")

Scraps said...

Oy. Maybe I'll skip the spiked Powerade after all...

;iulu said...

it's really yummy whatever they dump into it. not diet either

Scraps said...

There's such a thing as diet Powerade?!

;iulu said...

actually, i made the mistake of picking up powerade water (forgot the name). took one sip and realized it was laced with splenda. I mean how horrible that they've mutilated the water supply too..

;iulu said...

anyway, back to business.

I love the poem. I really do.
It's different than the usual 'poetry' out there.
The iambic pentameter (or whatever the heck its called) keeps rolling and flowing and taking you to new lands for exploration. And arriving at the last sentence..we feel like we've come a long way with you: experiencing, tasting, smelling all the mad happenings on this inspiring journey and finally reaching utopia.
Thanks for the trip.

s.J. said...

thanks proffesor flör.

;iulu said...

no. I was serious.

ps- can i correct pupils' spelling or no way?

;iulu said...

not disguting enough
i'll get u roadkill pics from the highway..(worst is I-80 on way to cleveland. they're freaky when ur half asleep at 4am and the bloody carcasses loom like ammo off a catapult).
:hurl:

;iulu said...

I was serious with my other comment.
The lines keep running through my head. Without sending you ego-tripping (I seriously dislike doing that to people), it's not many poets (archaic-sounding but I lack better verbiage at this moment in time) who have the ability to not only spark a response in readers' psyche, but to have the content remain in minds long after it was posted. Like a mantra of sorts the words creep back into my skull. Dancing just beneath the surface. Literally out of nowhere; looping, frolicking and spinning their merry deeds of mischief. Bringing back an upward curl of lip to a dreary day. Blazing neon drops slide giggling down the blurry panes; reminder of the glittering ball that still shines above the stifling veil of clouds.

No joke sj.
This poem kicks serious butt.

s.J. said...

aww, shucks.
thanks.
(it's one of my favorites too)

You sound as esoteric as Dylan. Not.
Oh, s.J.!
